Formed by the 1999 merger of Compagnie Maritime d’Affretement (CMA) and Compagnie Generale Maritime (CGM), CMA CGM is now one of the world’s largest shipping companies, ranking first in France, fourth in Europe and fifth worldwide.
CMA CGM operates a fleet of 172 vessels, including 34 owned vessels, on more than 70 major shipping lines.
It serves 212 ports of call in 126 countries, and has 400 agencies and offices throughout the world, including more than 40 in China.
CMA CGM serves all destinations and in 2003 transported 2.87 million containers. Its main container hubs are located in Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
CMA CGM has a network of 6,568 qualified staff members, including 2,162 in France, enabling the group to consolidate its growth as a global carrier and to fulfill all its customers’ requirements.
